Jeff Beck

In Memoriam: Jeff Beck (1944 - 2023)

Jeff Beck was an innovator and guitar virtuoso and most undoubtably one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He was able to make his Fender Stratocaster talk like no other by making the slightest of nuances to the tremolo bar with his right hand. Most guitar players rely on a series of effects pedals in order to manipulate the sound of a guitar. Jeff Beck could do it just with his hands.

His 1976 album Wired is one of his crowning achievements. It showcases his incredible musicianship and experimental approach to rock music. The all-instrumental album layers a mix of jazz fusion and rock influences with Beck’s unique guitar solos and intricate playing taking center stage. Evocative harmonic improvisation and emotion are a key to many of Jeff Beck’s talents as a musician.

Overall, Wired is a must-listen for fans of guitar-driven music and those looking for something a little different from your typical rock album.

Jeff Beck was a British rock guitarist known for his technically proficient and eclectic style. He rose to fame in the 1960s as a member of the Yardbirds, and later as a solo artist. Beck was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, first as a member of the Yardbirds in 1992 and again as a solo artist in 2009. His most recent album 18 was released in 2022 and was a collaboration with Johnny Depp.
